Hi, and welcome to Empowered Maternity Leave & Return

If you're here, chances are you're preparing for one of the most significant transitions of your life. You may be wondering how to prepare for your leave, how your career will fit alongside motherhood, or what returning to work will feel like months from now.

Perhaps you're excited, nervous, overwhelmed, or all three at once!

And that is perfectly normal. While becoming a mother is one of the biggest transitions we experience, very few women are taught how to navigate it intentionally.

We're encouraged to prepare for birth, create nurseries, and buy baby gear. But when it comes to preparing ourselves for the personal, professional, and emotional changes that accompany motherhood, guidance is often limited.

As a result, many women enter maternity leave without a clear plan, spend their leave focused entirely on caring for their baby, and then find themselves caught off guard by the realities of returning to work.

A Different Way to Think About Maternity Leave

One of the most important ideas I want to share with you from the beginning is this: Maternity leave is not a pause from your career; it’s a transition.

And like any meaningful transition, it deserves preparation, reflection, and support.

You are not simply stepping away from work for a few months and returning as the same person.

You are becoming a mother.

Your priorities may shift. Your identity may evolve. Your definition of success may expand. The way you want to lead, work, and live may look different from what it did before.

This doesn't mean you'll become less ambitious. It means your ambition may become more intentional.

The women who tend to navigate this transition most successfully aren't necessarily those with the most supportive employers, the longest leaves, or the most detailed plans.

They're the women who understand that this is both a life transition and a leadership transition and who prepare accordingly.

That's exactly what this course is designed to help you do.

The Journey Ahead

Using The Matrescence Leadership Framework™, you'll be guided through the first three phases where motherhood and career overlap:

Pre-Leave: Prepare intentionally, set expectations, and create the foundations for a smoother leave and return

On Leave: Recover, adjust to your new role as a mother, and reflect on the changes unfolding within you

Re-Entry: Return to work with greater clarity and alignment between your career and family life

Throughout the course, you'll find practical tools, reflection exercises, templates, and real-life insights from modern mothers who have walked this path before you.

The goal is to help you feel more prepared, more empowered, and less alone.

A Gentle Reminder

As you move through this course, remember that there is no "perfect" maternity leave and no perfect return to work. There is only your experience.

Permit yourself to approach this journey with curiosity rather than pressure. You don't need to have all the answers today. You simply need to take the next step.

And you've already done that by being here. Let’s begin.

With love,

Isabel

Next Steps

Many maternity leave and return-to-work challenges don't stem from a lack of effort but from unspoken expectations.

When expectations remain unclear, misunderstandings, frustration, and unnecessary stress often follow. For you, your manager, your team, and your family.

In the first session, you'll learn how to identify, discuss, and align expectations before your leave begins. You'll also discover the six key topics that deserve intentional conversations both at work and at home, setting the foundation for a smoother and more empowered transition.

The following sessions will provide you with practical templates to guide you through these conversations and create written agreements that you can refer back to whenever you need to.
